church was rocked by the child molestation case of michael gardner. peggy fox, you covered this trial start to finish and you have an exclusive interview today. >> i sat down with the parents of one of his victims. their daughter was only 10 years old when michael gardner molested her and another girl at her daughter's slumber party. when mr. rice heard what mr. sandusky said, it was like deja vu. despite the fact michael gardner was convicted of sexually abusing two young girls, close friends and family members, including his wife, former falls church mayor, robyn gardner, refused to believe he did it. on his sentencing day last month, gardner offered no apology. instead, he insisted he had been wrongly convicted. dan and christina rice, whose daughter was molested by gardner were not surprised. >> gardner and sandusky continue to say that they are innocent, why do you think? >> because they are still fighting it. also, they have wives that love them and families that support them. if they ever admit that they did do it, then they could lose that and you know -- >> it's all they

correspondent michael isikoff joins us now from outside the courthouse. so, michael, explain how this all went down inside. >> reporter: well, as you mentioned, thomas, it was an emotional, at times gut-wrenching hearing. at least two of the victims who gave statements fought back tears as they talked about the damage sandusky had done to them, but probably the single most powerful moment was from victim number four, who did not break down, seemed almost angry and said "i can never forgive you" to sandusky, addressing him. and among the damage he had done, he cannot let his own child out of sight because of fear of what might happen to him. that's the lasting impact of what jerry sandusky had done to him. jerry sandusky himself gave a long, rambling statement all over the map, seemed to duplicate some of what you heard in that audio statement, and he himself broke down and fought back tears towards the end, but it was hard to see the point that he was going to make. it was very clear, by the way, that judge cleland was not happy about that audio broadcast and talked when he sentenced sandusky,

of the divide. let's start with a live look outside. our michael and son weather cam. a lot of clouds around. mainly light activity. we'll show that to you north and west of town. 53 right now. high was only 55. dew point 42. and the winds still out of the north at 10. they will be north, northeasterly through tonight and through tomorrow which will keep these low clouds in place. you can see most of the activity now west of town. north of town. now into loudoun county. by and large this afternoon, it was essentially on the west side of . we'll zoom in a little bit. it's all light. so it's all light activity. leesburg, you go out o, some rain. you go past gaithersburg, up 270. some light rain as you go through frederick and toward hagerstown. look at the temperatures. upper 40s in some spots. 49 in rockville. 49 also in great falls and 49 in vienna. only 50 in arlington and 52 over in bowie. these are 10, 15 degrees below average. i don't want you to think you have to bring your plants in. there are frost advisories in foal ton and franklin county and there are some freeze warnings in effect

in fredericksburg, and 37 from charlie this morning. here in washington good visibility. here's our michael and son weather camera. wisconsin avenue there, over in the distance toward virginia. 45 degrees, feeling like 42 with the northwest wind running about 6 miles per hour. the chill made it all the way down into texas and oklahoma, even atlanta this morning in the low 50s with 30s chicago and detroit. this first really cold air mass of the season did bring the end of a growing season in many areas in the central part of the country. with the clouds coming back, it has been sporadic as far as the frost this morning, we are watching rain, coming out of the tennessee and mississippi valley, moving toward the east-northeast, approaching areas in southwest virginia this morning and give it a few more hours, lunch time we could be talking some of these showers might be even knocking on our doorstep by then. with the clouds certainly moving in rather quickly. the clouds will thicken up, shower possible even west of town by lunch time and north and west of town, that is where we will have the better ch

improve the rest of the week. a live look outside. our michael and son weather cam. churches are truly low -- temperatures are still low 50s downtown. dew point in the mid-40s. the winds are still north/northeast at 10. there will be an easterly component to this wind through tomorrow. these low clouds will be hard to shake, especially south and east of town. latest radar, here's our rain. everything is green. and in most cases light green. it's very light rain. we'll zoom in a little bit. you can see light activity. the west side of 270 in montgomery county, out route 7 and 50. everything is light so some of the roads could be wet tomorrow, especially south and east of town as the showers sink a little farther south and east overnight. tomorrow, right now we're looking at showers south. tomorrow morning most of the showers kind of into southern maryland. maybe prince george's county and maybe into calvert county and also into st. mary's coun as well. we look at also some activity even into the evening hours down to the south. so clouds are going to be very hard to shake south and east of

in october. nice, nice stuff. all right, we'll take a look outside. this is our michael and son weather cam. a lot of clouds. 53. dew point is 40 and the winds are north, northeast at 8. that's one of the keys. the winds will continue to be north, northeast at 8. we'll have that air for a while. at least through tomorrow morning. satellite picture and the radar combined will zoom in. a lot of activity in terms of the heaviest rain fall is west of town along the i-81 corridor. and there are pockets. see a little magenta there and in parts of west virginia. a little bit of wet snow. certainly a chilly air mass across the eastern sea board. we have light activity south of town. we'll show you doppler radar and we can see activity down toward southern maryland. it moved across the bay. but by and large, the heaviest and most consistent rain fall will be hagerstown to winchester. if you are walking the dog, you need a coat. back to cumberland, there's some rain. martinsburg, west virginia, up into hagerstown, that's where the heaviest rain fall can be found. temperatures right now, 49 in laithen

degrees. outside on our michael & son weather camera, wet streets. that's going to be the key for many of us this morning with 48 degrees. a little windchill of 45 thanks to the north wind at 7 miles an hour. and a lot of the moisture is really off shore. you see it there from cape cod back down to florida. a little moisture. up here in the midwest another storm system coming ie cross southern canada with -- coming across southern canada with another shot of cool air. this one mainly rain. with a touch of snow in eastern wyoming. this will drive a front through us tomorrow afternoon. we'll have a brief warm-up tomorrow closer to the 07- degree mark -- to the 70-degree park. looks like the bulk of this pass north of us. by 8:00 still looking at a couple of sprinkles east of town. we get into the afternoon. we see more sunshine. some showers linger along the coastal areas. then tomorrow afternoon, here comes this front across our northern sections with maybe a passing shower. here's the forecast. today 60 degrees. an early shower. some more sun this afternoon. tomorrow we're going to sta

. same in leesburg and also 46 for fort belvoir. outside on our michael & son weather camera, we see less moisture sitting on the cover of the camera. that's another sign that the rains have shut down and cloudy skies being reported at reagan national. 49 with a north wind at 8. feels more like 45 degrees out there. it is a raw morning. we've got this system on the east coast pulling away and this one in the plains heading toward us. you can see the twist right here in northern minnesota dragging a cold front across minnesota, iowa and wisconsin. that cold front gets here tomorrow afternoon. with it looks like most of the moisture is going to stay north of us but we do have a slight chance of a shower. in fact 8:00 still a slight chance of a shower east. we'll see the clouds lingering through midday some and then breaking up this afternoon. tonight we're looking at some fog possibly returning toward tomorrow morning. here comes the front tomorrow afternoon. slight chance of a shower northern sections with the front. it will just cool us down ath bit thursday and friday. today 60 degrees.
